WWII Era P-51 Mustang

Date:

WWII Era P-51 Mustang

Head-on shot of a World War II era P-51 Mustang while flying over the Arizona desert during a USAF Heritage Conference 2002 training flight. The aircraft is owned by Brigadier General (Ret) Bill Anders who is flying the aircraft behind a C-130 to practice formation flying with other heritage and modern USAF fighters (not visible). The USAF heritage aircraft and modern day fighters routinely team together to perform at airshows in the “Heritage Flight” formation, but must be certified to fly together before the airshow season begins each year.
