The F-22 Can Carry A Large Payload of Weapons

The 477th FG is the only Air Force Reserve unit in Alaska. As a Classic Associate, the unit is responsible for recruiting, training, developing and retaining Citizen Airmen to support the 3rd Wing and Expeditionary Air Force mission requirements. The 477th FG is dependent on Reservists, Air Reserve Technicians and civilians working side-by-side with the active duty's 3rd Wing to operate, maintain and support the F-22 Raptors that are assigned here.

The F-22 is capable of holding a large quantity of weapons in a stealthy manor. However, the variety of weapons compatible with the aircraft leaves is not vast. It’s true that the Raptor can carry air to air missiles or air to ground missiles, but the size and type are pretty specific. Currently, the F-22 is designed to hold short-range AIM-9 Sidewinder and medium range AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles for air to air combat. It can also hold a variety of JDAM bombs for air to ground combat.
